Dr. Heidi Fischer was born and raised in the small mid-western town of Hannibal, Missouri. Dr. Fischer attended the University of Missouri-Columbia on a Track and Field Scholarship where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Fischer spent the following years in Leeds, England at University on a Rotary International Scholarship before pursuing her medical training at Harvard Medical School. After completing an internship in Internal Medicine at the New England Deaconess Hospital Boston she moved on to her residency in Ophthalmology at Washington Eye Center in St. Louis, Missouri. When Dr. Fischer’s surgical residency was complete, she returned to her hometown and spent 2 years working alongside their local Ophthalmologist. In 1999, Dr. Fischer joined a practice within Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA before departing in 2008 to form her own practice, Fischer Eye Care. In January 2016 Dr. Eric Putnoi took over Dr. Fischer’s practice and today we are thrilled to have her join our team.
We could not be more excited to announce that Dr. Fischer will be joining Eye Care and Laser Surgery in January 2022 where she will continue to treat patients and perform eyelid surgeries.
